NURIT HEN FOR A WONDERLAND WEDDING AT JESMOND DENE HOUSE – JACQUI & CHRIS

Julia Braime

Jacqui & Chris turned the sublime Jesmond Dene House into a wedding wonderland for their stylish summer wedding, featured in Issue 12 of UNVEILED Magazine.

With images by Little Miss Boyco Photography.

the proposal

We got engaged in beautiful County Donegal during a trip to Ireland for Christmas and New Year 2017/18. It came as a total surprise whilst we were walking along Marble Hill beach. As we reached the end Chris got down on one knee, and I said yes! We spent the evening celebrating at an Irish castle.

the venue

We chose Jesmond Dene House for both our ceremony and reception. We love the hotel’s boutique style and that its surroundings make you feel like you are in middle of the countryside when it’s actually located just 15 minutes away from Newcastle’s centre. Its location meant that it was very accessible for guests who could also visit the city as part of their stay.

On the day of the wedding we were absolutely blessed with glorious sunshine which meant we were able to have our ceremony on the hotel’s terrace and make use of its Secret Garden. It felt like a gorgeous garden party.

Our wedding coordinator at the venue, Hannah, was just wonderful from start to finish. We knew she genuinely cared about our day.

the photographer

Our day was photographed by Wiesia Bojko-Allen, of Little Miss Boyco. I just love her style and natural shots; she captures the moments so beautifully. Her work is incredible.

Wiesia was absolutely amazing on the wedding day, radiating so much good energy. The following day she kindly sent us six teaser images which were wonderful. We can’t wait to see the full album!

Having also had a pre-wedding shoot with Wiesia, which we adore the images from, we would definitely recommend her. We feel blessed to have had her as our photographer.

the details

My vision for the day was a beautiful wonderland of white and green glamour with a fun vibe. We really wanted the wow factor whilst keeping it simple and worked with our suppliers to create our fairy-tale.

Flower and balloon displays, featuring huge white Hydrangeas and white Peonies, flowed from the garden into the Great Hall. For my bouquet, I had a neat, classic, all-white arrangement made up of Roses and Peony Roses, tied with ivory silk ribbon.

These elements were complemented by our incredible stationery, exquisite signs and towering cake with “JC” personalisation.

the dress

I chose a dress by an Israeli Haute Couture designer, Nurit Hen. I adored the glamorous sophistication of the dress and the hand sown beads. It was simple, classic and modern and the detail was just exquisite. I bought the dress from Si Bridal in Newcastle upon Tyne – the girls there are incredible, with a very creative eye.

the special touches

Live music had a huge impact on the vibe of the day. Aurora Strings played at the ceremony; jazz duet Verity & Violet sang during the drinks reception in the Secret Garden and two planted “guests” performed during the main course and dessert, which Chris and I planned as a surprise. They were super fun and all the guests were on their feet and doing the Love Train conga through the Great Hall! Finally, in the evening we had live band Groove Central Station. They all sounded sensational.
