The luxurious Charlton Hall in Northumberland proved a spectacular backdrop for Emily and Chris’ shabby chic, rustic themed wedding, paired with an elegant dusty pink, navy and white colour palette.
Styling details included hexagon lanterns, fairy lights, foliage and a wild floral bouquet, and a glorious naked cake with a delectable mix of champagne and strawberry, white chocolate and raspberry, and lemon flavours.
As a special touch, the newlyweds surprised their wedding guests with sparklers and fireworks against the summer night sky for beautiful candid shots to round off the occasion.

The proposal
We got engaged at our home on 16th November 2018. We’d spent the night at the Metrocentre, which is when Chris actually picked up the ring! When we got home, he said some very sweet things, then I turned around and he was down on one knee. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
The venue
We got married on 5th July 2019 at Charlton Hall. It’s an amazing venue and the only one that we looked at. It took a matter of seconds for us to completely fall in love with the place. Each room has a completely different look and the ceremony space is just on another level.
The photographer
Our wedding photographer was the lovely Becki from All You Need Is Love. I first found Becki on Charlton Hall’s website and she was always going to be our number one choice after looking at her Instagram page.
I loved how candid and unique the shots were, with the pictures blending into the day. We received 30 of our amazing pictures two days after the wedding and the others eight weeks after. When we first got the 30 pictures, we had to pull the car over just to have a look at them as we were that excited! When we received the whole album, we spent hours sending the link to all our friends and family.
The details
We wanted the day to be full of fun and laughter, not so much about romance. We stuck with a shabby chic and rustic theme with a sprinkle of love and laughter, complemented by a dusty pink, navy and white colour palette.
The amazing Made Simply Perfect did all of our décor – we had tables runners with wooden blocks and hexagon lanterns filled with flowers on top and fairy lights on the banister with some foliage. We also had ‘MR AND MRS DUNN’ letters with some pictures of our little family and wedding party around the venue.
I asked for a huge wild bouquet full of colour – pinks, purples, whites and greens, meanwhile we kept the flowers around the hall white and green.
We had a three-tiered naked cake adorned with white flowers consisting of three different flavours: strawberry and champagne, white chocolate and raspberry, and lemon.
The dress
I chose an A-line gown by the designer Morilee, it was one of the first ones I tried on and it wasn’t an instant ‘I love this’ feeling, but I kept comparing every other dress to this one and that’s when I knew. I bought it from a little boutique called The White Room Brides in Stannington.
The special touches
We didn’t have traditional wedding favours as we decided to donate £300 to Cancer Research and gave everyone a little badge with a note to explain money had been donated on their behalf.
Our speeches were very special and personal. We also ended the night with sparklers and surprised our guests with a firework display just before everyone headed off home. It was so wonderful and made for some outstanding pictures.
